images/image_db/alienware_logo_black.jpg A month ago Alienware announced the alienware Backpacking Challenge, where the contestants can win $5000 in cash by travelling across Europe in a two month competition doing all sorts of tasks during their trip. The challenge is taking place right now and you can now vote for your favorite contestant by heading over to the Alienware Challenge page. The person who has received the most votes at the end of the contest will be announced as the winner and receive the cash prize. This week's assignment is to come up with a promotional video for the new Alienware m11x which the contestants are kitted out with. Go and check it all out here.

cyx dies in car crash

is a sad day for eSports as Antonio 'cyx' Daniloski reportedly died in a car crash on his way back from Frankfurt airport. After missing his flight to the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge in Shanghai, China, the mousesports Counter-Strike player was returning home with intentions to take a later flight. The car then suffered a tire damage which led to the car hitting the crash barrier. Antonio died from the injuries of the accident. images/image_db/multiplay_logo_new.jpgA few weeks ago the people over at Multiplay have announced that they will once again be running the UK National finals for the World Cyber Games 2010 (WCG). Multiplay have now decided to host online preliminaries to give the top 4 from each game free entry to the upcoming i40 event. The qualified players will also bypass the group stages of the last change qualifiers. The eventual winner of WCG UK will go on to represent the UK at the WCG Grand Finals 2010 which are taking place in Los Angeles, California, later on this year. You can now sign up for the online qualifier for Forza, Guitar Hero 5 and Tekken 6. All information can be found here.

Intel Extreme Masters on Eurosport

Today the Electronic Sports League has made two big announcements regarding its upcoming Intel Extreme Masters - Season V. Number one is that the upcoming RTS giant Starcraft 2 will line up behind Counter-Strike 1.6 and Quake Live as an official title for this season. The second and also very exciting news is that the tv sports channel Eurosport will be playing episodes of the season matches. Which games will be broadcastet, though, and in what format the program will be, is still unknown. With the age restrictions of CS and QL, it seems likely that only Starcraft 2 will be featured.
